On March 1, 1998, Tanaka became the first two-stroke manufacturer to certify to the stringent C.A.R.B. Tier II emissions regulations. While most other manufacturers tried to fight the standard and say that it could not be done with two-stroke, Tanaka did it. Today, all Tanaka products comply with EPA phase 2 regulations and all Tanaka product groups are C.A.R.B Tier II compliant.

This review is from: Tanaka Commercial Grade Gas Powered Top Handle Chain Saw 16-Inch Bar and Chain 34cc 1.8 HP 2-Stroke (CARB Compliant) TCS-3401/16 (Lawn & Patio) I got this little powerhouse a couple of years ago under the model #3401/S. It has proven to be reliable and powerful. It starts very well in all climates as long as you follow the first time starting directions to the letter. After that all you need to do is keep the chain sharp. I have had no maintenance done to this machine outside of keeping the unit clean. Sawdust will back up and get stuck in the auto oiler. I use the machine all year long and needed a commercial quality unit. I have used Stihl, John Deere and some off brands. This rascal outperformed and outlasted all my friends saw. In fact, most people will have never heard of Tanaka but would do well to get one--you will not regret it. |
