I am A Husky operator perfoming mostly logouts(up to 6'diameter trees)on trails in the sierra mtns.I own a 290 stihl and do not sell myself to one brand, -whatever runs. I try to save the stihl for the wood cutting. I use this one at home to cut through dense brush and appropriatlly sized wood. the price range is great, especially that this saw usually takes the abuse of pretty much getting tossed around, dropped, getting knocked over, and if you have experienced brushing through layered walls of brush you'll know about pinching the Bar/ throwing the chain, and dirting/rocking the chain.mechanically this saw is easy to work on and full dissassebly (for thourough cleaning) is nice and easy(but which saw isnt).the only work(besides required maintenance) I have had to do is a slight adjust on the lo/hi, and the air purge assembly(part#530047213)(primer bulb) cracked (this is after years worth of use).I am currently in the process of trying different glues (without much faith in finding...Read more

Remove the auto shut off safety bar as soon as you get this. It binds and makes starting hard. It will eventually lock up the chain. If you wait for this to happen, you may damage the motor and clutch. Safety ain't all it's cracked up to be.

Don't waste your money on the Poulan Wild Thing. It won't idle well and has to be restarted constantly. Forget trying to use it off the ground on a ladder. It has to be started and restarted just like it has a cold engine each time. Believe me it is so complicated to start you will wish you had never purchased it. I only give this product a one because I can't go any lower and still write a review.
