I've used many different chain saws over time, but this is the best of them all. It has a very low weight to power ratio, is reasonably trouble free (except for the tendency of the switch to break), and is a very good value for its cost. It starts easily (once you learn to pull it a few times with the switch off and then start it for real), doesn't cut out when you let it idle, is remarkably free of vibration, is capable of sustained use, and is, in general, a strong and loyal companion -- like a German shepherd with many more teeth.

I will soon buy a second one, even though the first is a long way from having given up the ghost.

An excellent value.

This saw works great for the big stuff. I have a smaller saw for the smaller trees and limbs but needed something bigger. This saw works great and if very powerful, cuts through the big trees like butter. It is a little heavier than I had expected but I don't have to hold it very long.

My friend is having a house build and they cleared out some trees so I took over my two 18" Craftsman chainsaws that I bought at a garage sale and started sawing. I'm no professional logger and have just moved back to the mountains after working in town for way too long. These trees were very fresh pines and about 30' or so and about 24" trunks. We were quick to see that we were outgunned so the girlfriend went and rented us this Makita DCS640120 from a big box store.
It came with a new chain and a 22" bar. What a beast! What was taking us 5 minutes per cut was now 30 seconds. We were shocked at how much faster it was and the biggest thing that I noticed was how smooth it was and how it wasn't shaking my hands and arms. It didn't feel real big or bulky and even with it being plastic it felt very solid and not like it was going to break anytime soon.
