Summary: a piece of garbage, and awful customer service 2010-04-21
Comment: i bought this chain saw. i took it home and was surprised at how much of it was plastic, and how junky it felt. it was hard to imagine that this product would last very long.
i never had the opportunity to find out. it would not start. when i called the homelite customer service number i was put on hold for a half hour. when i dialed the sales number, they picked up instantly - apparently they have lots of people working to take your order, but no one available when their rotten product doesn't work.
i brought it back to home depot, and they couldn't get it to work either. i cannot believe what a terrible product this is, and how poorly supported. the person answering the phone for homelight said they only have one person on the phone answering customer problems "because it is a sunday" - for all the money they make selling their awful products, they can hire a few people to answer the phone. i will never buy one of their products again.

Summary: Do Not Buy This Product 2008-08-10
Comment: I bought this chainsaw at a local Home Depot because I liked the sturdy carrying case & the overall quality seemed good. That was a mistake. Even tho' the box says "easy fingertip-pull starting", I had to pull the cord with literally all my strength with both hands before it would turn the motor over. My 22 year old son could not pull the rope at all. Once I got the saw going & let it warm up for several minutes, the engine would die after a couple of minutes sawing. It didn't make any difference whether you throttled up or not...it would die & not start again for 5 minutes or more. If you pointed the saw tip down to the ground, the engine would die, if you pointed it up vertically, the engine would die. Needless to say, this saw is going back to the store tomorrow & I'm never going to buy a Homelite product again.

Summary: Poorest Customer Support Ever! 2006-05-10
Comment: Purchased a brand new Timberman for my husband over the internet, since I could not find one locally. He wanted this brand since he had this brand before with no problems. When the chainsaw came it the handle was broken. The on-line vendor said to take it to a authorized repair shop to get it fixed and it would be fixed free since it was under warrantee. Tried to go through local repair person listed on the Homelite website, after three months they said they were unable to obtain the part. Homelite when contacted was rude and basically said it was my problem.
If you get an item in good shape you might be OK, just hope you don't have to get something fixed, and need a part!
