I've had this chain saw for over a year. When it was new it worked fine but has not aged well. The case it comes in is good but the saw leaked chain oil from the start so you either have to drain the oil or put up the the mess. The chain tightener is easier than most but unfortunately it has failed prematurely and is nearly impossible to install a new chain. The mechanism is just too wimpy. I'm going to buy the Consumer Reports recommended Poulan Pro 40E for about the same price.

During first use cutting small fallen limbs product starting smoking and burnt electrical connections. Ryobi provided a list a locations providing warranty service for outdoor products. I contacted all locations and they advised that they only worked on gas products. I shipped it to a repair facility in St Louis and they rejected the warranty claim. The excuse was it was operated with the tension too tight. This was the first use - tension was set by Ryobi at the factory. I checked it before use and it turned without binding - which according to the manual is the correct tension. Even if this were true, a product with this advertised power should not be so fragile as to catch fire if the tension is not correct.

Electric chain saws don't have the power that gasoline saws have, but this electric puts out a lot of power. The bar is not as strudy as my Poulan Pro gas model, but it cuts just as quickly, with less noise. If plugged in, it starts instantly. It is lighter to carry than a gas chain saw, with none of the gasoline fumes.
It makes light work of limbing.
I recommend this saw for the homeowner who has occassional need to cut limbs or to fell small trees.
