Factory-Reconditioned Homelite ZR10540 35cc 14-in Gas Chain Saw

Cute saw.. Light.. starts, runs good. About 2 minutes of run time wide open and it stops running dead in it's tracks.. Won't re-start until it cools down. I cut about 4 minutes total every hour in between dead saw and cooling the motor.. It appears the original owner brought it back for the same reason. The mechanic who should have repaired it must have started it, ran it wide open for less than a minute, decided it was working correctly and boxed it back up. It won't cut throught a 10 inch tree without dying. Stops dead immediately as if a switch was flipped..VERY unhappy with this saw.

it leaks gas . not a great value. ok if you do not have much to cut.the gas cap was stripped

Light weight. More powerful than my echo, great idea to allow chain tension adjustment without tools. A little concerned that a lot of cheap plastic including choke lever and chain tensioning system but hoped it would last a season.

Ran great about 2-3 hours, then didn't seem to cut well. Eventually chain fell off and I saw the problem. Inside(sprocket side-not cutting side) of chain was stripped! I have never seen this in a chainsaw! Bought new so returned to Home Depot. Guy behind me in return line said he had bought one and it lasted two hours so decided to get money back and not buy another. A pity because loved performance, weight and chain adjustment.

At the price of these reconditioned units, can consider it a short term rental-except that throw out at end of day rather than have to return to store. If only could be sure it lasted the whole job!
